We recently received a beautiful message from one of our members about her experience in Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program. We want to share it with you today as we feel it truly exemplifies the BSLS experience:

“BSLS is something I can hardly put into words. Coming into college, it was difficult for me to find what my path was,  and I was nervous to put myself out there. I knew friends in BSLS and liked their message, so I decided to try. After going to my first BSLS Interest Meeting, I felt so entirely welcome and accepted that it truly brought me out of my shell even before joining. I had finally found the sisterhood I needed to grow on campus. BSLS became a safe space for me and my sisters. I have been able to connect to so many people and build relationships with my sisters. I now happily serve on the Executive Board, knowing that there's a love like no other between us. From laughs to adventures to hard conversations, they've been there. BSLS has become so much more than a college organization. For me, BSLS has brought me lifetime relationships of strong women who I can depend on and community of happy and healthy bonds. I would go to the end of the Earth for my sisters!”

Summer Doesn’t Stop BSLS

Just because school is out, doesn’t mean our work stops.

We spend our summer providing the same learning opportunities we do during the school year. Our signature Hear Our Voice program has recently launched and has been running through July and August. In it, our members participate in a series of webinars taught by industry leaders. It addresses mental health and wellness, promotes effective communication and leadership, and fosters emotional resilience. The program aims to reduce bullying, enhance mental health wellness at schools + within communities, and improve self-worthiness and esteem. With this preparation, our members can enter the new school year armed with the tools they need to succeed.

We cannot continue to deliver these important programs without the support of donors like you. Additionally, Did you know August is BPM? BPM is Black Philanthropy Month. Keep reading below to learn more and why this is important to BSLS!

By elevating the importance of Black philanthropy, BPM seeks to shift the narrative and ensure that Black-led organizations receive the recognition and resources they need to survive and thrive.
