A Note from our Founder:

Happy New Year, everyone! Our year has kicked off strong, and we are excited to celebrate National Mentoring Month- a celebration that is, of course, near and dear to our hearts. National Mentoring Month was launched in 2002 by MENTOR to highlight and awaken everyone’s “endless sense of possibility every new year” (National Mentoring Month). As a mentoring organization ourselves, we see the changes that mentoring can make daily. Help us spread the word about how mentoring can change lives during National Mentoring Month today and every day by helping us share our message via social media, donations, and volunteering.

Speaking of the New Year, we’ve been doing some goal-setting, and we intend to hit them! Our goals this month are:

• To recruit new working professionals and entrepreneurs to be mentors: Know of anyone who fits this bill? You can sign up here.

• Strive for 100 mentors to be matched with mentees within our Professional Mentoring Program.

• Continue to spread awareness of Big Sister Little Sister and our mission. You can help us with this goal by visiting and sharing our social media (linked below!).

We’ve been busy over the holiday season and have some big updates on what you can expect from us this year:

💡We have a brand new website (don’t worry, our domain hasn’t changed!) launching next month that we couldn’t be prouder of. We hope it serves you and our mission even more than our previous site did. As a part of this update, we now support an updated system to use your company matching programs among other options.

💡There are now even more ways you can contribute to our cause including some that have always been around like mentoring, volunteering, crowdfunding, joining our board, or attending any events that are open to the public. Now, you can also donate via cryptocurrency and company matching as we previously mentioned!

💡As a part of our updates to giving options, you can now make donations via your Donor Advised Funds through our partners at DAF Direct!! All you have to do is click this link to set up your donation.

Thanks to all who helped us make these changes happen!

What We’ve Been Up To:

We closed the year with our December Winter Break programs and we hope to bring more of this excitement and energy to all of our events this year. Thank you to our friends at NFL Network who gave us an interactive tour of their facilities along with a chance to watch a live taping of the show, Total Access, hosted by Mike Yam, Michael Robinson, David Carr, and Kimmi Chex. A big thank you also goes out to our friends at Apple, who taught our members how to animate using iPads and how to overall maximize the use of their Apple products at the AppleBeverly Center. Plus, a lucky member got to leave with a special gift to take back to her dorm at Texas Southern University. Chapter of The Month:

Our chapters continue to grow and glow, and from now on we plan to highlight a chapter each month! Here is our first:

Big Sister Little Sister Kennesaw State University!

Founded in 2022, BSLS KSU is one of our younger chapters, and is thriving and growing! They welcomed their second chapter president, Kiera Beniefield, not too long ago and she will be serving with them until Spring of this year! They are currently hosting a loose change fundraiser and are recruiting new sisters into the fold. The BSLS KSU chapter truly embodies the words “sisterhood is powerful.”
