Show Your BSLS Pride!

In This Newsletter:

A Note from our Founder:

June has been all about celebrating pride, and it’s gotten us thinking about how proud we are of our community.

This month and last month, many of our members moved from our active rolls to our alumni community, and with them we share our pride in their accomplishments and all they’ve done for our community. As we think about them, we also think about what it takes to bring Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program to life.

Our programs is supported by volunteers, staff, board members, and community members within our various school locations. They have supported us through a website re-launch, which is now live, and we invite you to go see here (at our same web address as always). They have supported us through a leaner year than expected, in which donations from readers like you mean more than ever, and they will continue to support us as we shepherd BSLS through its sixteenth year.

So, with that, we say we are proud to be supported by all of you. We hope to keep sharing our good work with you for many many years to come.

With gratitude and pride,

Aneisha Hughes

What We’ve Been Up To:

With RoundUp App we're giving YOU a brand new way to support US!

We just announced our new partnership with RoundUp App, a spare change platform that lets you donate the rounded up change from your everyday transactions. By partnering with RoundUp App we're giving donors, just like you, a new and effortless way to give back. Your spare change can make a big impact for us.

Your RoundUp donations help us to support our mentors and mentees as our members grow and glow.

Plus, RoundUp App uses Stripe to process transactions (the same payment processor used by over 100,000 companies including trusted names like Amazon and Lyft) so you know your information is safe and secure.

P.S. – You can also download RoundUp App on the App Store or Google Play Store!

We know that July is a busy month, and with that in mind, we’ve moved our July celebration of our Sweet Sixteen to a virtual event! Instead, our exciting in person meetup will move to October— those who have already purchased tickets will receive a complimentary VIP upgrade should you still be able to attend. We hope that more of you are able to join us with this schedule change.

In the meantime, we still want to see you on Founder’s Day virtually! You can sign up for that event here:

With the launch of our new website, we want to extend a huge thanks and honor our webmaster, Selena Woodson. We wouldn’t have our beautiful new site without her. On her experience with BSLS, she shares:

“I am deeply appreciative of the chance to collaborate with BSLS. Engaging with the site and delving into its mission and purpose has revealed the remarkable impact it's generating. The commitment to inspiring and empowering youth and women to excel in all facets of their lives resonates throughout its endeavors. Through BSLS, individuals not only acquire valuable skills but also cultivate a profound sense of purpose and dedication to effecting change. It's an honor to be associated with an organization that is actively molding the leaders of tomorrow, and I look forward to furthering its vision of global leadership and empowerment.”

Chapter of The Month:

The chapter at the MLK Convocation in honor of Dr. King.

This month we celebrate our BSLS chapter at FAMU!

They’ve partnered with multiple other community organizations throughout the year in order to better themselves and the world around them. They commit to honoring the values of BSLS everyday.

In addition to honoring the chapter’s commitment to their community, we also want to honor their member of the month, Tracy N.!

She shares:

I am Tracy Nyauke a third-year Health Informatics and Information Management scholar. I serve as the Parliamentarian for the FAMU Chapter of Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program, Inc. Since joining BSLS in 2021, it has become a pivotal part of my journey, offering personal and professional growth that has shaped me into who I am today. In my role, I take pride in inspiring others and making a positive impact by leveraging my knowledge to foster a safe and supportive environment. As a first-generation scholar, I am passionate about sharing my experiences to guide mentees towards setting clear goals and mapping out their paths to success.

Don’t Forget:

There’s still an opportunity to make a donation that will directly impact our Sweet Sixteen. We invite you to donate and support our efforts to grow our impact through mentorship in schools across the United States.
